How to Stay Well in Winter - Our Top 3 Tips!

HOW TO STAY WELL IN WINTER - OUR TOP 3 TIPS!
At Christmas, we can all get a bit worked up about giving our loved ones the perfect present and our children the best Christmas experience possible. But it's important to ensure you look after your own wellbeing if you're going to make the most out of Christmas.

So, here are Roman Beauty's top 3 tips for staying well and feeling great this festive season.



Tip 1: Watch the diet
With advent calendars and turkey dinners it's easy to overindulge, so it's a good idea to work in some healthy stuff too and make sure you're increasing your vitamin levels to strengthen your immune.
Citrus fruit is full of vitamin C, something our body desperately needs when the office cold is doing the rounds. Grapefruit for breakfast, or perhaps a tangerine or a clementine for lunch are going to help your body look after itself. Also, half a bell pepper has 3 times as much vitamin C as an orange, so try adding it to smoothies, soups and winter salads.
To give your body an extra boost, consider yogurts that have live and active cultures in them to promote healthy bacteria in the gut. Opt for natural or plain yogurt rather than flavoured ones that can be packed full of sugar.


Tip 2: Drink plenty
As the weather gets colder, it becomes less desirable to drink cold water, but its important to still aim for your 2 litres of water a day to stay hydrated.  Try adding different fruits to hot water or opt for herbals. Green tea is filled with antioxidants and great for boosting your immune system. However, it can be a little bitter to drink on its own, so why not add some lemon (for an extra vitamin C boost) or some honey? Using raw honey or manuka honey will double the benefits of your morning cup of tea!
If you want to avoid caffeine altogether, why not try some natural lemon, ginger, or echinacea drinks?




Tip 3: Take time for you
At Christmas, it's easy to become extremely busy with work deadlines, getting your children ready for parties, and sorting everything for Christmas. This time of year is fun, but we can also overdo it. We end up committing to so many plans that we leave little time for ourselves, so we burn out.
Balance your diary in December by creating a bit of "you time" in each week leading up to Christmas, even if this is just an hour for yourself to relax with music, go to a yoga class, have a bath, read a book, or wrap up warm and go out for a walk
