With all of us currently self-isolating at the moment, at Roman Beauty we have been using our creativity to come up with new and exciting ways we can bring relaxation, peace, and calm into your new home!

And so, our private (and free!) Roman Retreat Wellbeing Hub was born!

Over the last week, we have been posting free daily mindfulness & meditation practises such as 'gratitude meditation,' 'flower meditation,' breath awareness,' and 'chime bell meditation' to help people practise mindfulness at home. We have also been posting guided beauty and pampering tutorials with step-by-step instructions and a follow along video of how you can:
**do your own scalp massage to increase blood flow to the hair to help reduce hair thinning and increase blood flow for healthy hair;
**do a facial massage which works over the pressure points in the face to release stress and tension;
**create a spa environment at home with candles, incense, relaxing music, and do-it-yourself pamper treatments.

Mindfulness at Work

Mindfulness to Stay Peaceful & Calm at Work
The days are starting to get lighter and a little warmer. But work can still feel like a grind, especially if we're inside all day.
For those of us who work at a computer, we can get back, neck, and head pain from bad posture. If you work in an office as well, it's unlikely that you'll be getting a full daily dose of Vitamin D from sunlight.
A little bit of meditation can help our bodies and our minds - and it's so easy to do, many of us can even do it at work! Even if you can't find the time to carry out a full meditative exercise, try smaller changes: after a fraught meeting or phone call, take a moment before you launch back into work to bring your focus to the breath, taking a few deeper breaths in to the body, and allowing yourself to fully relax on each out breath.  Thinking about all the things in your life that are good and that you are grateful for also helps take the focus back on to positive feeling thoughts.


Workplace meditation
There are plenty of ways to meditate without even moving from your desk.
To start off with, just close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing for 60 seconds. Make sure you've turned off the phone and silenced all notifications on your computer. Concentrate on your breath coming in through your nose, filling up your lungs. Hold it for a moment then gently exhale.
If it doesn't feel comfortable for you to close your eyes in the workplace, it is possible to meditate with your eyes open. Just pick a spot that is clear of distractions (so, perhaps, a plant or a spot on a wall) and focus on that instead.


Go for a walk
Those of us who work office hours inside a building are going to miss out on a decent daily dose of sunlight and Vitamin D. As such, when the weather is fine, take the opportunity to go for a walk. If you feel that the outdoors makes you particularly restful, you could even combine your walk with a spot of meditation in a park or on a quiet bench somewhere.
Alternatively, if you find it hard to relax in the bustle of city life, try downloading some nature sounds - the sea, waterfalls, birdsong - and listening to the tracks as you walk along or rest.
