Back posture and hot stone massage

POSTURE AND PAIN
Many Roman Beauty clients suffer from back pain. Massage is a great way to relieve tension in your back, neck, and shoulders, but we've also got a few helpful tips below to try and help you get better posture and less pain

TECHNOLOGY AND POSTURE
Technology is such a huge part of our lives, but not many of us realise just how it can contribute to back pain.
Hunching over your phone while texting or leaning forward to peer at your computer screen will all force your body into unnatural positions. Even cradling a telephone between our ear and shoulder can lead to neck strain if done for too long or too often.

STRETCHING OUT
If you find yourself constantly hunched over, try a few stretches such as chest stretches or gently lenghtening your neck upwards as you tuck in your chin. That will help stretch out all those muscles that have been locked tight without you even realising.
Try to do some gentle stretching exercises every hour so that your muscles have a chance to relax. It need only be a few minutes at a time, but you'll really start to feel the benefits.
If you go to the gym, planks, and bridges to give your tired muscles a healthy stretch.

HOT STONE MASSAGE
A regular massage will help release the tension in tired muscles, but if you find yourself in a lot of pain or if you suffer from migraines, then a heated stone massage might be just the thing.
Heated stones have been used as an aid to massage for 5,000 years, employed by Hindus in India, the Chinese, and the Hawaiians who found that heated stones could assist in promoting whole-body relaxation
At Roman Beauty, we use basalt stones because, in addition to heating well, basalt is said to possess healing properties. The warmed stones are placed along the spine under the energy chakras to help create balance within the body.

Warm your muscles with Hot Stone Therapy

KEEP WARM AND WONDERFUL
It's definitely getting chillier, and we're all trying to seek out that extra bit of warmth. A massage is a wonderful way to get the blood flowing around your body, and the heated massage table we have at the salon means that you'll stay wonderfully toasty even as you relax.
But if you want to chase away every last chill, then a hot stone massage is the perfect choice of treatment.

WHY CHOOSE HOT STONES?
A massage with hot stones is going to promote even greater relaxation than a regular massage. By placing warm stones at key points on the body, the heat from these stones will relax the targeted muscles to a greater extent and enable your therapist to work on muscles buried deep down. This has the advantage of releasing additional tension without any extra pressure.
Furthermore, the heat from the stones helps the blood vessels to expand, promoting better circulation throughout the body.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
At Roman Beauty, we use basalt stones because, in addition to heating well, basalt is said to possess healing properties. We warm the stones in water and then place them along the spine under the energy chakras to help create balance within the body.
When the massage is over, the stones are cleansed in saltwater and left to dry naturally to ensure maximum energy levels are maintained.

ANCIENT TREATMENT, MODERN BENEFITS
Heated stones have been used as an aid to massage for 5,000 years. The practice was initially called Ayurveda and was employed by Hindus in India. Later on, both the Chinese and the Hawaiians found that heated stones could assist in promoting whole-body relaxation
Today, a hot stone massage can be used for those who suffer from chronic muscle pain such as arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as those who just want a more effective massage.
